Cotabato City – In line with the celebration of National Tourism Month 2025, a Mangrove Tree Planting activity was successfully conducted on Saturday, September 26, 2025, at Barangay Kalanganan 2, Cotabato City.

The initiative brought together local government officials, youth volunteers, environmental advocates, and community members with the shared goal of protecting the city’s coastal areas and promoting sustainable tourism.

This environmental activity highlights the vital role of mangroves in preserving marine biodiversity, protecting shorelines from erosion, and serving as natural barriers against flooding and storm surges. By planting new mangroves, the city also reinforces its commitment to long-term climate resilience and ecological balance.

Mayor Para sa Lahat Mohammad Ali “Bruce” C. Matabalao expressed his appreciation to all the participants, stressing that environmental protection and tourism development must go hand in hand.

“Through efforts like this, we are not only protecting our environment but also ensuring that Cotabato City remains a sustainable and attractive destination for future generations,” he said.

The Mangrove Tree Planting activity forms part of a series of events lined up for National Tourism Month 2025, underscoring the city’s dedication to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and the promotion of eco-friendly tourism.
