
COTABATO CITY – The Local Government of Cotabato City, together with key partners and stakeholders, officially led the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the construction of a One (1) Storey Peace Center within the grounds of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) – Cotabato City Council in Barangay Rosary Heights 10.
The Peace Center aims to serve as a safe, inclusive, and accessible venue for peace education, leadership development, youth engagement, and community-building activities. This facility forms part of the city’s broader commitment to fostering harmony, resilience, and responsible citizenship among the youth and community members.
City officials emphasized that the Peace Center will complement ongoing programs that empower young leaders and promote peaceful coexistence in the area. The project also signifies the strong partnership between the city government and local organizations in advancing long-term peace and development initiatives.
In his message, Mayor Para sa Lahat Mohammad Ali “Bruce” Matabalao highlighted the importance of creating dedicated spaces where future leaders can learn, collaborate, and cultivate values rooted in respect, integrity, and unity. He also expressed gratitude to the Girl Scouts of the Philippines and all stakeholders for supporting the vision of a more peaceful and progressive Cotabato City.
The construction of the Peace Center is expected to further strengthen community engagement and provide a structured environment for various youth- and peace-related programs in the coming years.
