
The BARMM Tourism Summit 2025 formally opened today, September 16, 2025, at the KCC Convention Center in Cotabato City. Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco attended as the keynote speaker, along with various officials from the national government, BARMM ministries, and international partners.
In her speech, Secretary Frasco emphasized the need for improved connectivity and infrastructure to further boost tourism in the region. This includes addressing issues such as high airfare costs, airport regulation and maintenance, and opening competition in the aviation sector to make travel to and from BARMM more affordable.
In his welcome remarks, Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” Dela Cruz Matabalao said: “Cotabato City is ready to become the primary gateway for tourism and investments in BARMM. We believe that through the collaboration of the national government, regional ministries, and local government units, we can showcase to the entire country and the world the rich culture, history, and potential of our city and region.”
Indonesian Consul General Agus Trenggono and Malaysian Consul General Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh also delivered messages of support, reflecting the interest of Southeast Asian neighbors in BARMM’s potential as a tourism destination.
In his inspirational message, Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua assured that the Bangsamoro Government is fully committed to implementing the Bangsamoro Tourism Development Plan 2024–2033.
