COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Government, through Project Kapyanan, successfully conducted the partial turnover ceremony of 100 core shelter units equipped with solar-powered lighting systems in Barangay Tamontaka Mother, Cotabato City.
The beneficiaries of the housing project are families who previously resided behind the People’s Palace in Rosary Heights 10. Recognized as informal settlers, they were relocated to ensure access to safer, more sustainable, and permanent homes. This initial batch of 100 household beneficiaries marks a major milestone in the implementation of the city’s housing initiatives in partnership with the Bangsamoro Government.
The ceremony was led by Assistant Senior Minister and Project Kapyanan Manager Abdullah “Dong” Cusain, who delivered the message of Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua. In his statement, Chief Minister Macacua emphasized that the housing units symbolize not only physical structures but also “homes of hope and foundations of a safer and brighter future for every Cotabateño family.”
It may be recalled that in December 2022, a ceremonial turnover of the project’s funding support was conducted to facilitate the construction of these core shelter units which are now gradually being distributed to qualified beneficiaries.
In his message, Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” C . Matabalao expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Bangsamoro Government and all project partners for their continued collaboration and commitment.
“This program reflects our administration’s advocacy, Para sa Lahat, Aksyon ang Solusyon. A new home means a new beginning a renewed sense of hope and dignity for our fellow Cotabateños. Through unity and partnership, we can build more and achieve more for our city,” the Mayor said.
For the beneficiaries, this relocation from being informal settlers to officially recognized homeowners signifies not only improved living conditions but also a fresh start one that promises stability, safety, and a more dignified life for their families.
